Three large supermarkets are also on the outskirts of the town. Zoo Marine, Krazy World, Water Parks, horse riding and many delightful beaches will help to keep the children happy. For the golfer in the family Penina, Palmares and Golfe de Morgado are just a few of the excellent golf courses within an easy driving distance.
We have lots of information available in the apartments for our visitors who would like to explore the area and for our non-English speaking visitors we can communicate in Dutch, French and German.
There is plenty of secure off-road parking Sorry, but pets are not permitted. Distance to Faro airport - via A22 motorway approx 70km - an easy 50 min drive. Car hire is recommended - please ask for details when making your reservation.
If you prefer not to drive yourself, we can provide a Faro airport pick up service upon arrival. Transport is limited to 4 people ( without golf clubs). The cost is €60 one way and €120 for a round trip. Local car hire companies will deliver a car to the apartments for you at competitive prices

The district of Monte Canelas is located in the ancient, historical parish of Mexilhoeira Grande which is our local village just 4km away. Very much part of old Portugal, it has all local amenities including a small, but well stocked supermarket and an early morning fish market. Three very good, inexpensive restaurants are all within 2km of the house. Just 1km away at Alcalar, is a Neolithical burial ground 3500 yrs old with a fascinating insight into the history of the area.
The old fishing village of Alvor, with its long sandy beach, little winding streets and many bars and restaurants is just 15 minutes drive away. Just 4km East of Alvor is the old town of Portimao, the nearest big town which sits on the estuary of the river Arade. The quayside is famous for its many fish restaurants. Many local boat owners are there to offer you some deep-sea fishing, or a leisurely boat trip along the coast and the river trip inland to the old Moorish city of Silves should not be missed. The narrow streets of the shopping area in Portimao are now all pedestrianised and a shopaholics delight.
